🎲 THE QUEST LOG

Good morning. If your Tuesday morning began with a series of cold, transactional Slack pings and a calendar full of meetings that could have easily been emails, we’re here to help you stage a workplace intervention.

In today’s edition:

Let’s dive in.

Happy Birthday to the Ultimate Stress Reliever 🎂

As of June 6th, Tetris officially turned 42 years old! Released back in 1984 by Alexey Pajitnov in the Soviet Union, it remains one of the most successful, stress-relieving, and universally played games of all time. It’s even clinically proven to help prevent post-traumatic stress by acting as a cognitive block against intrusive memories.

“I couldn’t stop playing it. I would sit at my terminal pretending to debug the code, but I was just playing. When my colleagues came over to see what I was doing, they got hooked too. That’s when I knew I had something special.”

- Alexey Pajitnov

PURPOSEFUL PLAY AT WORK
🧠 One-Shot vs. Campaign: Do You Need Team Building or Team Development?

Every manager wants a high-performing team, but most throw money at standard fixes like ropes courses or escape rooms that half the team secretly dreads. Trauma-bonding isn't a strategy, and by Monday morning, 90% of the slide decks and speeches are completely forgotten.

So, how do you know if your party just needs a quick, fun afternoon to bond (a One-Shot) or an intentional, ongoing curriculum to completely rewire how you work together (a Campaign)?

In our latest blog, we break down the Team Culture Roadmap to help you choose the right path for your organization:

  • 🪵 Path A: The One-Shot (Team Building): A fast-paced, single-session adventure to smash burnout, level the playing field, and inject some rapid fun.

  • ⚔️ Path B: The Campaign (Team Development): A long-term journey to safely dismantle defensive silos, defeat imposter syndrome, and build unbreakable psychological safety.

“If I wanted to spend my afternoon trapped in a room solving puzzles under pressure, I’d just go back to my desk and open Jira.”

SPEAKING EVENTS
🎤 On the Soapbox: Two Places We're Spreading the Lore

Our mission to save teams from forced fun, awkward icebreakers, and a scavenger hunt that half the team secretly dreads is heading straight to the ultimate proving ground of tabletop gaming. We’ve been invited to step out of the game design dungeon and take the stage at two upcoming industry events to share exactly how tabletop games change the way people interact at work.

We’ve been invited to take the stage at GenCon’s Trade Day in Indianapolis!

We will be joining a powerhouse panel of researchers and industry colleagues to break down the actual behavioral science of how TRPGs are being used to build high-performing teams—proving that team trust is built around a table of dice, not by staring blankly at a consultant's 80-slide deck.

  • 📍 Location: GenCon (Indianapolis, IN)

  • 📅 Date: Wednesday, July 29th

  • Time: 1:00 PM ET

(If you happen to be roaming the exhibit hall or the Trade Day, come say hi at the evening trade day mixer)

We're heading to Duke to deliver a session titled "Leveling Up Team Training With TTRPGs." We’ll be showing leaders exactly how a game table coaxes players to dismantle their invisible walls, leave their egos at the door, and actually practice working together.

  • 📍 Location: Serious Play Conference (Duke University)

  • 📅 Date: August 5th - 7th

TURN YOUR COWORKERS INTO A LEGENDARY PARTY

Want to skip the academic conferences and bring this strategy straight to your company? Laura can speak at your organization on how to turn your team of coworkers into a Legendary Party. We'll map out how to build your real-world workplace team the exact same way you would build a perfectly balanced adventuring party in D&D.

“Another two-hour strategy alignment? Oh, darling, please... I survived two hundred years of pure torment in a dark dungeon, and even I find your team meetings unacceptably cruel.”

— Astarion, Baldur Gate 3’s most dramatic rogue

🎲 D&D is Self-Care: Join a Community Game

The best way to stop thinking about work? Immerse yourself in a totally different world every single week. If you’ve been looking for a real way to shake off the week's stress that doesn't involve staring at another work screen, this is it.

We are launching our next round of community campaigns designed specifically for adults who want a dedicated space to unwind and practice the lost art of having fun.

The rules of engagement are simple: reserve your seat and you'll be enrolled. Once enough players have signed up, the campaign will officially begin and you'll receive your call to adventure. No experience required.

Community D&D campaigns starting in July:

Biweekly, Thursdays at 6:30PM ET (Register)

Biweekly, Mondays at 6:00PM ET (Register)

“I've wanted to play in one of Laura's games for months now and was not disappointed! I highly recommend her if you want a GM that adds her own spin on stories and makes sure that everyone is having fun.”

Claude is not just a chatbot anymore. Is your security team ready?

Claude.ai is one thing. Claude Cowork with MCP connections, running agentic workflows, taking actions across your data with ungoverned skills? That is a different conversation entirely, and most security teams are not equipped to govern it.

Harmonic Security is built to secure everything Claude offers. Full browser controls for Claude.ai, deep governance over agentic MCP workflows, and real-time visibility into what Claude is doing across your organization. So your CISO can say yes to the tools your business is already demanding.
