Yesterday 30 of you joined our first D&D at Work roundtable!

We had an electric room full of HR leaders, executive coaches, L&D teams, researchers, and professional game masters, discussing how to bring serious play to leadership development training.

🎥 Missed it? Watch the presentation here:

When I asked why doesn't most corporate training stick? Here’s some of what we heard:

  • "Sitting is not sticky learning."

  • "It's not reinforced in real life."

  • And my favorite, "Information does not equal transformation."

Here’s the thing: We don't prep a sports team by showing them a PowerPoint. We get them on the field running drills.

Yet we send employees to a workshop and expect them to execute perfectly in high-stakes moments, where saying the wrong thing can actually get them in trouble.

That's what D&D at work gives teams: a low-stakes practice field.

Embodied learning like roleplay can lead to 45% higher knowledge gain, because your brain feels the tension of the moment even when the dragon isn't real.

What we play at, we become. That's the heart of everything we do at Once Upon a Roll.

After every event, I get the same two questions: "Can I hire you?" and "How can I bring this into my company?" So we're cooking up something to help you learn to run these sessions with your own team, using the same method I use with clients like the CDC. Stay tuned for more soon. 👀

🎃 I’m hosting the next D&D at work on October 29th
